Yes, I could compromise on using the term as an adjective, but prefer sliding vinyl sunroof, or sliding canvas sunroof (pre '56), as these are the terms commonly used prior to the Internet. (Later...

It's a "sunroof" whether folding or steel. The term "ragtop" refers to a full convertible. Done. When I hear people call my car a "ragtop" I politely correct them immediately.

I'll agree with that. Yes, max, I correct people all the time. Call your own car a rag, but when they ask about mine, I say, "It's a sunroof. That's what VW called it."

I have to interject. VW never called the droptop rag-top a convertible. They are Cabriolets. There are no Beetles, They are type 1s. I have the qualifications to enter this argument as I am the owner...
